Edwin Hall - Murderer, Creep

In June of 2007, a girl named Kelsey Smith disappeared from a local Target store. Her body was found 4 days later. It didn't take too long for a suspect to be apprehended: Edwin Hall. He was promptly indicted and work began on a trial. Today he was to have had a change of venue hearing. Instead, he entered a guilty plea, admitting that he did, in fact, kill Kelsey. One thing many had been curious about was if he and Kelsey had known each other before he took her from the store. In his allocution… Continue

An appalling breach of ethics

This makes me just furious! On my main blog, I had written a number of posts about Elizabeth Fritzl, the Austrian woman who's father held her captive. I has assumed that because so much information was being given out - some of it which pretty obviously had to come from doctors and therapists, and some from the police - that she'd given consent for people to discuss what had happened to her. As such, I saw no problem in writing and commenting on the situation myself. Apparently, t… Continue

Interesting twist in the Ted Bundy story

Ted Bundy has been dead since 1989, but as recently as 2002 there was new information in one of the cases he'd been accused of. As something of a true-crime buff, you'd think I'd've heard of this before now, but somehow I missed it. In general, most sources have considered Kathy Devine, who was killed in 1973, as Bundy's first victim. In her (deservedly) acclaimed book "The Stranger Beside Me," author Ann Rule - who knew Bundy -… Continue

New developments in the murder of Megan Touma (aka the "pregnant soldier)

There's been a real interesting development in Megan Touma's murder case: Someone has sent a letter to The Fayetteville Observer, in Fayetteville, North Caroline, not only claiming to be the killer, but using the signature symbol of the Zodiac killer, referring to the Zodiac as his "role model." Worse, the letter claims that he's killed "many" before. It's not uncommon for police or newspapers to get letters like this from attention see… Continue

Introduction and review of "The Death of Innocents" by Firstman/Talen

Hello, I'm Kriselda, and I'm a True Crime fanatic :) I'm hooked on all the various crime documentaries they have on TV these days, and have read more true crime books that I'd care to count. (I also like fictional crime dramas - like the Law & Order shows, and especially enjoy it when I can recognize the real-life case the episode is riffing off of....) When it comes to true crime books, I've long been a big Ann Rule fan and also enjoy John Douglas' books, though I have to admit after readi… Continue
