Child-on-child rape in Georgia: Is this reality?

This is a shocking and very emotional story out of Acworth, Georgia, a very small town north of Atlanta. But it would be shocking anywhere. Three boys, ages 8 and 9 have been accused of raping an 11 year old girl. The girl says she was threatened with a rock and then raped. Her mother said:

"They do need to be taught a lesson because if they do it to her, they could do it to somebody else," the victim's mother said. "And who knows when they become teenagers what they can do to other girls."

The boys, backed by the father of one of them, say it was consensual.

The father of one of the boys said his son is being accused of luring the girl into the woods."He's only 45 inches, 40 pounds in the third grade," the boy's father said. "This girl's in the fifth grade, she's 11 years old, 2 foot taller than him. How can my boy with a broken wrist be accused of any kidnapping charge?"The boy's father said he believes she made up the story to cover up her promiscuity.
"She's trying to cover her own butt by getting everyone else in more serious trouble," the boy's father said. "I guess we're just going to have to see how this is going to unfold

However try his statement might be, it concerns me that he appears to condone his son's actions. Even if she consented, the act itself is still illegal. He also said that she was older and bigger than them, however, there were 3 of them and 1 of her. So I do not see validity in his statement on that.

This situation, true or not, will tear this small community apart, maybe forever. I can only hope that the truth will come out and justice will prevail, whatever that may be.
